“Söderströmstunneln” - technical challenge of planing and building the Söderström tunnel in Stockholm The railway tunnel “Söderströmstunneln” is currently under construction in the heart of Stockholm. The immersed tunnel is crossing the Söderström, a branch of the lake Mälaren, and is forming the connecting part between two rock tunnels. He consists out of two connection structures and three single tunnel elements that are cast in floating steel shells. The tunnel elements will then be immersed on pile foundations and on the lake bottom monolithically connected and post-tensioned. |
