Abstract:	Passivhäuser werden definiert als Gebäude, deren Gesamtenergiekennwert (Endenergie) für Heizung, Warmwasserbereitung und Haushaltsstrom bei normaler Wohnnutzung 30 kWh/(m² a), bezogen auf die Wohnfläche, nicht übersteigt. Mit der durchgeführten Untersuchung wurde bewiesen, daßPassivhäuser mit heute am Markt verfügbaren Komponenten in Mitteleuropa realisierbar sind. Als Prototyp wurde das Passivhaus im Darmstädter Baugebiet Kranischstein 1990/91 errichtet und ist seit Oktober 1991 von vier Familien bewohnt. die gemessenen Energieverbrauchswerte bestätigen die Wirksamkeit des Konzeptes: Im Durchschnitt der vier Wohneinheiten wurde im Zeitraum vom 01.10.1992 bis 30.09.1993 ein Gesamt-Energiekennwert von 32 kWh/(m² a) erreicht.
