Abstract:	Die Fertigung im Anlagenbau, Maschinen- und Stahlbau ist durch besonders große, in wenigen Stückzahlen vorkommende Werkstücke gekennzeichnet. Das stand dem Einsatz von automatischen Füge- und Schweißanlagen bisher entgegen. Um auch beim Fügenm und Schweißen mit der Automatisierung voranzukommen, wurde in einer Projektgruppe aus fünf Industriefirmen und zwei Forschungsinstituten eine Fügezelle für Großteile entwickelt. Durch den modularen Aufbau aus vier einzeln verwendbaren Elementen ist eine stufenweise Erhöhung des Automatisierungsgrades durch Anpassung des dafür erforderlichen Kapitalaufwandes an die jeweiligen unternehmensspezifischen Gegebenheiten möglich. Die Pilotanlage wurde in einem Stahlbauunternehmen erprobt.
