Abstract:	Es wird über Ursachen und Entstehen von Kolken (z.B. hinter Wehren, hinter Strompfeilern oder an seitlichen Strombauwerken wie Widerlager usw.) berichtet. Zum Studium von Kolkbildungen sind maßstäbliche Modellversuche sehr hilfreich, der Aufsatz zeigt die modelltechnischen Vorschriften um auf die Verhältnisse in der Natur aus den Versuchen brauchbare Schlüsse ziehen zu können. Am Beispiel des Elbewehrs Geesthacht werden im Versuch die natürlichen Verhältnisse nachgbildet, um dort aufgetretene Schäden durch Kolke zu erklären und Sanierungsmaßnahmen einleiten zu können.
