Abstract:	Bei den Absorbertürmen handelt es sich um extrem dünnwandige zylindrische Schalentragwerke, die sich durch das Verhältnis von Schalendicke zu Schalendurchmesser im Bereich der dünnsten Raumfahrtschalen bewegen. Bei der Konstruktion und Bemessung dünner Schalen müssen die Regeln der Schalentheorie beachtet werden. Hohe Spannungen ergeben sich durch die Einleitung von Einzellasten und das Vorhandensein von Öffnungen im Zylindermantel. Zur Aufnahme der ungleichmäßigen Setzung des Fundaments werden erstmals Elastomerlager eingesetzt.
