Abstract:	Dieser Bericht ist als Einleitung eines grossen Forschungsberichts entstanden, in dem die statistische Auswertung von Probebelastungsergebnissen zur Begründung empirischer Tragfähigkeitsangaben in Pfahlnormen dargestellt wird. Er soll zeigen, weshalb Tragfähigkeitsangaben seit den fünfziger Jahren gemacht werden, welche Anlässe für die Weiterentwicklung dieser Angaben bestanden und wie diese Weiterentwicklungen betrieben und fortgesetzt werden
