Abstract:	In Teil 1 dieser Serie wurde die aktuelle Ausgangssituation für eine funktionelle raumakustische Gestaltung skizziert. Die vorherrschenden Lehrmeinungen, Normen und Vorurteile, die unter Akustikern im Hinblick auf den anzustrebenden Nachhall von Räumen verschiedener Größe und Bestimmung gepflegt werden, wurden kritisch hinterfragt. Dabei wurde auf die häufigen Probleme bei tiefen Frequenzen, besonders in kleinen, aber auch in großen Räumen, hingewiesen. Hier wird nun mit weiteren Zitaten aus der Literatur an die vielfach unterschätzte Bedeutung des Bassbereichs erinnert. An einem unter Musikern und Tonschaffenden unisono gerühmten Kirchenraum mit herausragend guten raumakustischen Eigenschaften wird danach demonstriert, wie eindeutig positiv sich eine Absenkung des Nachhalls bei den Tiefen bei gleichzeitiger Anhebung bei den Höhen auf die Darbietung und Aufnahme von jeglicher Sprache und Musik auswirkt. Dazu kommen auch zahlreiche Nutzer mit ihren professionellen Wahrnehmungen gerade dieses Raumes zu Wort. Functional acoustics - useability of rooms based on reverberation characteristics. Part 2: Bass foundation and frequency spectrum of reverberation. In Part 1 of this series the present working conditions for a functional room-acoustic design were outlined. The prevailing doctrines, standards and preoccupations were critically questioned which are cultivated by acousticians with respect to the desirable reverberation of rooms of differing size and use. Frequent problems were identified at the low frequencies especially in small, but also in large rooms. Here the often depreciated relevance of the bass regime will be underlined by further citations. A church room which is highly esteemed by musicians and sound engineers for its outstanding acoustical quality demonstrates the positive influence of a suppression of the reverberation at the low and simultaneous enhancement at the high frequencies on the performance and recording of speech and music. Numerous users of this room support these conclusions with their professional sensations.
