Abstract:	Zentrales Bauprojekt des BrennerCongress ist der Brenner Basistunnel mit seinen Zulaufstrecken in Österreich, Italien und Deutschland. Dieser ist jedoch mehr als nur ein Bauprojekt! Der Brenner Basistunnel sollte auch als Symbol für Kooperation im Bauwesen gesehen werden ? für Kooperation auf den verschiedensten Ebenen: Auf Länderebene zwischen Österreich, Italien und Deutschland, auf regionaler Ebene zwischen Nord- und Südtirol, auf organisatorischer Ebene zwischen Eisenbahnbau, Straßenbau und Wildbach- und Lawinenverbau, schließlich auch auf fachlicher Ebene zwischen Technikern, Bauingenieuren und Architekten, Ökologen, Soziologen, Wirtschaftern und Managern ebenso wie zwischen Auftraggebern, Unternehmer und Ingenieurbüros. Der BrennerCongress hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, Kooperation auf all diesen Ebenen zu fördern. Das zentrale Bauwerk Brenner Basistunnel führt schließlich zum 3. Fokus des BrennerCongress 2012: Die besonderen tunnelbautechnischen Herausforderungen von TBM-Tunnelvortrieben in den Alpen werden in Beiträgen aus Praxis und Wissenschaft ? und aus dem Blickwinkel von Auftraggeber, Unternehmer und Ingenieurbüros beleuchtet. The key construction project of this BrennerCongress is the Brenner Base Tunnel, with its access routes in Austria, Italy, and Germany. But this is much more than a just a construction project. The Brenner Base Tunnel should also be seen as a symbol of cooperation in civil engineering - and this means cooperation on a great variety of levels: on a national level, between Austria, Italy, and Germany; on a regional level, between North and South Tyrol; on an organizational level, between railway construction, road construction, and securing against mountain torrents and avalanches; and finally, on a functional level, between engineers, construction engineers and architects, ecologists, sociologists, economists and managers, as well as between awarding authorities, contractors and engineering firms. The Brenner-Congress has set itself the objective of encouraging cooperation on all of these levels. The main construction, the Brenner Base Tunnel, is the third and final focus of the BrennerCongress 2012. Specific, tunnel construction challenges of TBM tunnelling in the Alps are to be described in contributions drawing on theory and practice, and from the perspectives of awarding authorities, contractors, and engineering companies.
