Abstract:	Die denkmalgeschützte Großmarkthalle in Frankfurt am Main stellte zum Zeitpunkt der Fertigstellung im Jahre 1928 den weltweit größten stützenfrei überspannten Hallenbau aus Eisenbeton dar. Das charakteristische Tonnengewölbe der Halle besteht aus 15 nur wenige Zentimeter dicken Tonnenschalen. Realisierbar wurde der Entwurf durch das Zeiss-Dywidag Konstruktionsprinzip in Kombination mit dem Spritzbetonverfahren. Die Großmarkthalle wird in den Neubau für die Europäische Zentralbank (EZB) integriert und infolgedessen instand gesetzt. In diesem Beitrag wird über die historische Konstruktion, das damals wie heute vorteilhafte Spritzbetonverfahren und die derzeitige Instandsetzung der Tonnenschalen berichtet.
