Abstract:	Die Befreiungshalle bei Kelheim nahe Regensburg zählt zu den bedeutendsten politischen Monumentalbauten des 19. Jahrhunderts. Vor 150 Jahren, am 18. Oktober 1863, findet die Einweihung statt. Es ist zugleich der 50. Jahrestag der Völkerschlacht bei Leipzig. Der bayerische König Ludwig I. hatte den Bau 1836 bei seinem favorisierten Architekten Friedrich von Gärtner (1791-1847) in Auftrag gegeben, zum einen, um an den Sieg über Napoleon zu erinnern, aber auch, um einer “größeren deutschen Nation“ ein Denkmal zu errichten, um einen “Pantheon der Teutschen“ zu bauen (Bild 1). Im Archäologischen Museum der Stadt Kelheim präsentiert das Architekturmuseum der TU München bis zum 27. Oktober 2013 alle wichtigen originalen Zeichnungen und Pläne aus der Bauzeit (Bild 2). The Befreiungshalle (Hall of Liberation) near Kelheim in Bavaria is one of the most important 19th century monuments. 150 years ago, on 18 October 1863, the inauguration takes place. It is the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Leipzig. The Bavarian King Ludwig I had ordered the construction in 1836 at his favorite architect Friedrich von Gärtner (1791-1847) in order to commemorate the victory over Napoleon, but also to build a monument towards a “larger German nation”, a “Pantheon of the Germans”. At the Archäologisches Museum Kelheim an exhibition shows all important original sketches, coloured drawings and plans till 27 October 2013.
