Abstract:

Erfurt - Bridges of the 19th Century
If we examine the town planning development of the City of Erfurt during Germany's period of expansion in the 19th century, we often focus solely on the architecture and the artistic intentions of its creators. The structural achievements of the engineers of that time, who planned, designed, built and calculated on a scientific and technical basis, are often ignored. This article therefore aims to pay tribute to the Erfurt bridges of this part of the 19th century and the engineers who created them.
