Abstract:	Das neue Gaskraftwerk auf der “Lausward” hat eine attraktive Gebäudehülle inklusive einer neuen Aussichtsplattform erhalten, die sowohl das Stadtbild wie auch den Bereich des Düsseldorfer Hafens positiv an seinem auch zukünftig eher industriell geprägten westlichen Rand stärkt. Das Architekturbüro kadawittfeldarchitektur hat nach gewonnenem Wettbewerb (2013) eine Hülle aus nebeneinanderstehenden, unterschiedlich großen Stahlrahmen realisiert, die den einzelnen Gebäudeteilen des neuen Kraftwerks ein gemeinsames Kleid verleihen. Die einzelnen Module können auf jegliche Anforderungen aus dem Inneren reagieren. Gleichzeitig wird das große Gesamtvolumen durch die Rhythmisierung verträglich gegliedert. Das abschließende und größte Rahmenelement im Nordosten der Anlage bildet das sogenannte “Stadtfenster”, eine 60 m hohe und 38 m breite, beidseitig komplett verglaste Einhausung des Kraftwerks-Schornsteins. Über einen Aufzug gelangt man auf ca. 45 m Höhe zu einer Aussichtsplattform, von der man nach Süden bis nach Köln und nördlich über den Rhein auf Düsseldorf blicken kann. Der vorliegende Bericht beschäftigt sich insbesondere mit dem Entwurf und der Konstruktion dieses besonderen Bauteils. Power station with a view - power plant with a pleasant view The new gas-fired power station on the “Lausward” received a visually appealing building envelope including a new viewing platform and positively enhances both the urban landscape and the western part of the Düsseldorf Hafen district which will have a more industrial footprint in the future. After winning the competition (2013), the architects from kadawittfeldarchitektur have realized a shell of steel frames of different sizes, which give the individual building parts of the new power plant a common look. The individual modules can react to any requirements from the inside. At the same time, the large total volume is structured in compliance with the building's rhythm. The largest frame element in the northeast of the plant forms the so-called high-rise structure “Stadtfenster”, a 60 m high and 38 m wide double-sided fully glazed enclosure of the power plant chimney. An elevator takes you to an observation platform at a height of approx. 45 m, offering views southward to Cologne and northward over the Rhine to Düsseldorf. This report deals in particular with the design and construction of this particular structural component.
