Abstract:	Im Eisenbahnnetz der DB Netz AG befinden sich über 25 000 Eisenbahnbrücken, die sich wiederum aus ca. 83 000 Überbauten zusammensetzen. 5,5 % dieser Bauwerke sind nach dem Jahr 2003 gebaut worden. Um ältere Konstruktionen, die tw. bereits über 100 Jahre durch die Eisenbahn genutzt werden, nach heutigen Maßstäben beurteilen zu können, steht mit der Richtlinie 805 “Tragsicherheit bestehender Eisenbahnbrücken” (Ril 805) ein entsprechendes Hilfsmittel zur Verfügung. Im nachfolgenden Aufsatz wird chronologisch auf die Entwicklung des Eisenbahnnetzes eingegangen. Mit Fokus auf die bestehenden Eisenbahnbrücken aus Stahl wird dargestellt, wie auf die sich ergebenden Änderungen reagiert wurde, die schließlich zur heutigen Ril 805 geführt haben. Abschließend wird noch auf die aktuellen bzw. zukünftigen Aufgaben in diesem Zusammenhang eingegangen. History of the Ril 805 “Structural safety of existing railway bridges” Over 25 000 railway bridges belong to the railway network of DB Netz AG, which are divided in nearly 83 000 substructures. 5.5 % of these structures were built after 2003. To be able to assess older constructions, that in some cases have been in use for rail traffic for over 100 years, according to today's standards, guideline 805 “Structural safety of existing railway bridges” (Ril 805) gives corresponding aid. The following text describes chronologically the development of the railway network. With focus on existing steel railway bridges, it shows how the resulting changes were addressed and ultimately result into today's Ril 805. Finally, the current and future tasks in this context will be discussed.
