Title:

Das neue Wildparkstadion Karlsruhe

Abstract:

The new Wildparkstadion Karlsruhe
A new state-of-the-art sports complex with space for around 34,000 spectators has been built for Karlsruher SC. The architects from agn and the construction company ZECH Sports provide insights into the creation process of the new Wildparkstadion. Its unmistakable shape is created by fundamental construction elements such as the Y-shaped roof supports and creates an architectural trademark in the Bundesliga for the new KSC soccer temple. The realization during ongoing match operations posed exciting challenges for those involved in the project, with numerous intermediate construction stages during the stadium's conversion in stages. Due to the full reconstruction during the 2nd German Soccer League, specific requirements were placed on the construction process from the very beginning and, consequently, on the choice of construction methods. A key requirement was to always maintain a minimum capacity of 15,000 seats for soccer enthusiasts during the construction project.
