Abstract:	Im Gegensatz zum Nachweis der Knicksicherheit von Stahlbetonstützen wird der Beulsicherheitsnachweis von Schalen und Faltwerken in DIN 1045 nur am Rande behandelt. Aufbauend auf den Materialgesetzen, den Annahmen für Imperfektion und den stabilitätstheoretischen Überlegungen von Euler, Engesser und von Karmans wird ein Vorschlag zur Beulbemessung von Schalen unterbreitet. Ein Vergleich mit dem Nachweis der Beulsicherheit im Stahlbau wird angeschlossen.
