Abstract:	Durch das Große Hanshin-Awaji Beben (Erdbeben von Kobe) wurden viele Stahlbrücken und Stahlpfeiler beschädigt, von denen anschließend einige versagten. Im vorliegenden Aufsatz werden die auftretenden Schäden zusammengefaßt und die entsprechenden Instandsetzungs- und Rekonstruktionsverfahren kurz vorgestellt. Beschrieben werden Instandsetzungen mit Stahlplatten und Rekonstruktionen mittels Hybrid-Pfeiler aus Stahlbetonstützen und Stahlriegeln, die bei beschädigten und zerstörten Stahlbetonpfeilern verwendet wurden. Ebenfalls beschrieben werden Maßnahmen zur Verstärkung bestehender Stahlpfeiler.
