Abstract:	Zwischen 1973 und 1978 wurden am Mittellandkanal (MLK) 35 Brücken teilweise oder ganz aus wetterfestem Stahl errichtet. In der Folgezeit kam in Deutschland die Anwendung des WT-Stahles fast zum Erliegen, da seine Korrosionsbeständigkeit und seine Ermüdungsfestigkeit angezweifelt wurden. Im Brückenbau bedurfte es der "Zustimmung im Einzelfall". Neuere Untersuchungen und auch die insgesamt guten Erfahrungen mit den MLK-Brücken führten zu der Erkenntnis, daß der WT-Stahl - werkstoffgemäß und in richtiger Kontruktionsform angewandt - seine Berechtigung fand, was drei neue Brücken an der Stadtstrecke Hannover beweisen.
