Abstract:	Der nachfolgende Aufsatz entstand im Rahmen des Unterausschusses Brückenbau des Internationalen Eisenbahnverbandes (UIC). Die Chefs Brückenbau der verschiedenen Bahnen Europas treffen sich jährlich zwei Mal zu einer Sitzung, um Entwürfe für Normen (EUROCODES) oder UIC-Merkblätter zu genehmigen. Der UIC-Unterausschuß Brückenbau hat infolge der Reorganisation UIC seine institutionalisierte Funktion vorübergehend verloren. Die Chefs Brückenbau pflegen weiterhin einen intensiven Gedankenaustausch, um den Eisenbrückenbau wirtschaftlich weiter zu entwickeln, die europäische Normung in ihrem Bereich zu fördern und um kostengünstige Instandhaltungskonzepte zu finden.
