Abstract:	Mit dem Bau einer Brücke über den Tejo in Lissabon in den Jahren 1961 bis 1966 ging in Portugal ein Traum mehrerer Generationen in Erfüllung. In der ersten Bauphase entstand eine Hängebrücke, die zunächst nur für den Straßenverkehr konzipiert und gebaut wurde. Im Jahre 1995 entschloß sich die portugiesische Regierung zur Realisierung der zweiten Bauphase, d. h. zu der Erweiterung der Fahrbahn und dem Einbau des Eisenbahndecks. Die Gesamtlänge der Brücke beträgt damit ca. 3200 m.
