Abstract:	Quantilwerte spielen eine wichtige Rolle im Bauwesen, also auch in den Eurocodes. Die Student-t-Verteilung und die Chi-Quadrat-Verteilung sind zwei Stichprobenfunktionen, die auf der Basis der statistischen Inferenz diskutiert werden. In dieser Beziehung ist die statistische Inferenz die Schlußweise von der Stichprobe auf die Grundgesamtheit. Der Teil 3.4 beschreibt die Konstruktion von Konfidenzintervallen, wenn die Standardabweichung unbekannt ist. Das Ziel besteht darin, ein Zufallsintervall zu finden, das eine hohe Wahrscheinlichkeit zur Sicherung des wahren p-Quantils hat. Üblicherweise ist der charkteristische Wert von Baustoffeigenschaften, speziell von Festigkeitsparametern, als 5 %-Quantile definiert. Für eine eindeutige Definition des p-Quantils sind sowohl das Konfidenzniveau 1 minus alpha als auch die einseitige oder die zweiseitige Begrenzung des Intervalls notwendig. Es muß festgestellt werden, daß der verteilungsgebundene Quantilwert eine Inferenz liefert, die präziser ist als es der verteilungsfreie Quantilwert tut.
