Abstract:	Im Zuge der Überführung des Mittelland-Kanals über die Elbe entsteht zur Zeit mit der Kanalbrücke Magdeburg das Kernstück des Projektes 17 der Verkehrsprojekte Deutsche Einheit. Das Bauwerk besteht aus einer 16-Felddurchlaufträger-Vorlandbrücke und einer 3-Felddurchlaufträger-Strombrücke mit insgesamt 918,05 m Länge und ca. 24900 t Stahl Gesamtgewicht. Der Bericht beschreibt den Entwurf und das beauftragte Bauwerk mit den vorgeschalteten Variantenuntersuchungen sowie die Ausschreibung und den Stand der Ausführung. Zur Verkehrsfreigabe im Jahr 2003 wird die Binnenschiffahrtsverbindung der westdeutschen Industriezentren mit der Hauptstadt Berlin unabhängig von den Tauchtiefen der Elbe.
