Schoch, Torsten | The M1 Energy-efficiency building Plus - Conclusion of monitoring / Das M1 Energieeffizienzhaus Plus - Abschluss des Monitorings | Mauerwerk | 2/2015 | 93-109 | Fachthemen |
KurzfassungThe M1 energy-efficiency building Plus was to render practical proof that the advantages of solid construction such as carrying capacity, fire protection and sound protection could be connected to state-of-the-art and future energy efficiency standards in the scope of a pilot project. With simple and thought-through planning details and a coordinated system technology, energy plus solid houses are no longer merely visions. The M1 project mostly focuses on the claim to economic efficiency and saleability of the product, points out new possibilities for implementation to consumers, planners and executing companies. x
Kornadt, Oliver; Vogel, Albert | The new German soundproofing standard: Comparison between DIN 4109:1989 and E DIN 4109:2013 / Die neue Schallschutznorm: Vergleich DIN 4109:1989 und E DIN 4109:2013 | Mauerwerk | 2/2015 | 110-118 | Fachthemen |
KurzfassungIn 2013, a new draft of a complete standard for DIN 4109 “Soundproofing in buildings” was issued in 4 parts - “Requirements”, “Method of calculation”, “Parts catalogue” and “Testing acoustics in buildings”. It includes several increases in the requirements for protection against airborne noise and impact sound by comparison to DIN 4109:1989. The increases are based on the grades from monitored buildings of standard construction periodically noted in recent years. Significant changes are also included in Part 2 “Input data for verifying the requirements by calculation”. A detailed computation of all transmission paths is carried out here, taking into account the special vibration reducing indices. For a brick wall, the specific indices for the weighted sound reduction index R’w,R are shown that arise for various formations of the joints. When compared with the calculated values according to DIN 4109:1989 there are differences of up to 10 dB. x

Penna, Andra; Magenes, Guido; Rota, Maria; Mandirola, Martina; Rosti, Annalisa | Experimental-numerical research on the seismic performance of URM buildings made of lightweight AAC blocks / Experimentell-numerische Untersuchung zum seismischen Verhalten von unbewehrten Mauerwerksgebäuden aus Porenbetonblöcken | Mauerwerk | 2/2015 | 130-143 | Fachthemen |
KurzfassungMasonry walls constructed with lightweight AAC blocks and thin-layer mortar meet the increasingly strict requirements of energy efficiency and sustainability. In this sense, they represent an excellent solution for modern buildings, not only for external cladding but also as loadbearing elements. Despite the possible advantages of using lightweight AAC masonry, a specific assessment of its seismic performance is mandatory in order to set design recommendations allowing to reach safety levels consistent with those required for other masonry types complying with EN 1998 standard requirements. x
Fudge, Clifford | Use and application of AAC masonry in the UK / Einsatz und Anwendung von Porenbeton in Großbritannien | Mauerwerk | 2/2015 | 144-151 | Fachthemen |
KurzfassungAutoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) masonry is widely used in the UK and is a commonly utilised material, predominantly for housing, but also for other building structures. First produced in the 1950s in the UK, it has become an important masonry solution for houses used in number locations from cavity walls to below ground and in concrete beam and block floors. This paper looks at why the material has become so popular and the background for the acceptance of use. The growth of the market for AAC has been driven by changes to Building Regulations and solutions have been developed to improve the structures thermal and acoustic performance. x
Schlegel, Roger | Identification of parameters for comparing the trial data and the simulation model, using as the example brickwork exposed to fire / Parameteridentifikation zum Abgleich von Versuchsdaten und Simulationsmodell am Beispiel brandbeanspruchten Mauerwerks | Mauerwerk | 2/2015 | 152-163 | Fachthemen |
KurzfassungTrials and simulations provide important aids in the development of products for constructing brickwork. The balance between measurement and simulation is one of the classic duties for model validation. If the difference between the measurement and the recalculation is excessive, an approximation task for minimizing the differences can be formulated. Optimization tasks for calibration between measurement and simulation are often deemed to be an identification problem. In the past this task was generally processed through iterative adaptation of individual characteristics. With the availability of parameter optimization programs, the iterative manual alignment can be automated and even more complex tasks can be dealt with. The necessity of such automated identification procedures becomes even more important due to the speed of innovation in current product development processes. Within virtual prototyping, virtual testing is the key towards a reduction in hardware tests. Only when reference experiments achieve a comparison of major results between measurement and simulation, can it be presumed that all the relevant phenomena for the actual test result are included in the virtual model and thus predictable models are available for virtual testing. Using brickwork exposed to fire as the example, with the aid of modern mathematical procedures, the article shows that parameter identification can be carried out in a systematic, efficient and target orientated manner. x
