AbstractThe Borth underground salt mine with an annual production volume in the range of 2 m t of halite is amongst the largest underground mines in Central Europe. All mined halite is transported to the central hoisting shaft with belt conveyor systems. To ensure a safe and efficient operation of the main conveyor belt, precautionary support measures in geotechnically stressed areas of various stopes were necessary. For the rehabilitation measures, an innovative anchoring system was applied using 3.7 to 5.7 m long hollow bar anchors which were first anchored mechanically in a borehole, pre-stressed and then fully grouted with resin. x

AbstractIn the Frasers underground gold mine in New Zealand several previously mined areas had to be sealed off and secured against water ingress. To ensure that the bulkhead structures are effective, the surrounding highly fractured rock masse had to be reinforced. In cooperation with Mastermyne, DSI Underground Australia suggested pumping Mineral Bond urea silicate resin into the rock mass around the drive to consolidate the ground and eliminate the water passage around the bulkhead seal sites. Mineral Bond was chosen as it is a nonexpanding resin which is unaffected by water, remains flexible and develops a strength of 40 MPa (see page 738). x

AbstractThe approx. 1760 m long twin tube Tunnel Ivan is part of the A1 motorway in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will connect the north of the country with the Adriatic coast. After a construction start in October 2019, the tunnel could be opened to traffic in September 2022. To secure and support the tunnel, DSI supplied Hollow Bars and the AT - Casing System 114 mm.
