Abstract:	Am Beispiel der im Jahre 1888 von G. A.. Wayss und M. Koenen veröffentlichten Monier-Broschüre wird das für die spätere Entwicklung des Stahlbetonbaus charakteristische Zusammenwirken zwischen technischem Versuch und technikwissenschaftlicher Theorienbildung einerseits sowie Baupraxis andererseits aufgezeigt. Vergleichsrechnungen mit verschiedenen historischen Berechnungstheorien an Plattenstreifen aus der Monier-Broschüre zeigen die Leistungsfähigkeit des ersten, von Koenen geschaffenen Bemessungsverfahrens.
