Abstract:	In den 60er Jahren des 19. Jahrhunderts entstanden in Frankreich, hinsichtlich Konstruktion und Gestaltung, beispielhafte eiserne Viadukte für die Eisenbahn. Es sind überwiegend parallelgurtige Balkenbrücken, deren eiserne Pfeiler eine fachwerkartig aufgelöste, pyramidale Form haben. Fünf Talbrücken werden hier vorgestellt. Ihre konzeptionelle Gemeinsamkeit, ihre konstruktiven Unterschiede und ihre technische Fortentwicklung werden beschrieben. Die Viadukte wurden entworfen und berechnet von N. W. Nordling, einem Ingenieur einer privaten Eisenbahngesellschaft. Die Ausführung lag in den Händen unterschiedlicher Firmen. Eine davon war die, damals noch unbekannte, Societe Gustave Eiffel.
