Abstract:	20 km südlich von Freiburg im Breisgau ist eine der modernsten Abfallbehandlungsanlagen gebaut worden. Die verfahrenstechnische Ausstattung der Thermischen Restabfallbehandlungs- und Energieerzeugungsanlage Breisgau (TREA Breisgau) ermöglicht, daß die strengen Grenzwer-te der Bundesimmissionsschutzverordnung (17. BIMSchV) um bis zu 80 % unterschritten werden. Bauherr und Betreiber ist die Firma SOTEC GmbH aus Saarbrücken. Die Planer und Architekten der SOTEC haben für die TREA eine Architektur entworfen, deren Erscheinungsbild an die Bauten des ehemaligen Militärflughafens am Standort anknüpft. Die moderne Industriearchitektur am Fuße der Weinbergzone des Breisgau ist eine Landmarke vor der Silhouette des südlichen Schwarzwaldes.
