Abstract:	Mit dem überarbeiteten Eurocode 6, Teil 1-1 liegt eine europäische Norm vor, die zukünftig eine sehr einfache Bemessung von bewehrtem Mauerwerk gestatten wird und die einige der strengen Restriktionen der DIN 1053-3 aufhebt. Sie schafft damit Voraussetzungen für eine breitere Anwendung des bewehrten Mauerwerks auch in Deutschland. Die wesentlichen Formeln der Norm sind auf ihre Hintergründe und Brauchbarkeit hin überprüft worden. Die getroffenen Vereinfachungen und erzielten Kompromisse sind bekannt. Es ist damit eine Grundlage für die Festlegung des nationalen Sicherheitsniveaus im Rahmen der Ausarbeitung des Nationalen Anhangs zu dieser Norm vorhanden.
