Abstract:	Von den Grundgleichungen der Schalentheorie ausgehend wird gezeigt, wie einfach die Dehn-, Biege- und Torsionssteifigkeiten einer Gewölbestaumauer bereits in der Vorbemessung berücksichtigt werden können. Das Zahlenbeispiel für die 1951-57 erbaute und 237 m hohe Gleichwinkelmauer Mauvoisin lässt die verschiedenen Einflüsse auf die Tragwirkung unter Eigenlast, Wasserdruck, Temperaturveränderungen, Schwinden eds Betons, Talverformung infolge Stauseelast und Erdbeben deutlich erkennen. Soweit möglich werden die Rechenwerte mit in situ-Messungen verglichen. Die erzielte Übereinstimmung ist für praktische Zwecke ausreichend.
