Abstract:	Eugen Dyckerhoff (1844-1924), Kaufmann und Mitinhaber des Bauunternehmens Dyckerhoff & Widmann (später: Dywidag), war einer der bedeutendsten deutschen Betonpioniere des 19. Jahrhunderts. Ab den 1860er Jahren trieb er mit systematischer Grundlagenforschung die Weiterentwicklung des Betons zum anwendungsreifen Baustoff voran. Sein unbewehrter “Stampfbeton” wurde dank geschickter Öffentlichkeitsarbeit mit Vorträgen, Publikationen und Ausstellungsteilnahmen zu einem Standard im deutschen Bauwesen. Unter Dyckerhoffs Führung erschloss die kaufmännisch geprägte Firma Dyckerhoff & Widmann dem Beton immer neue Anwendungsgebiete, angefangen von der Produktion (künstlerischer) Fertigteile über den konstruktiven Ingenieurbau bis zu den repräsentativen Hochbauten des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts.
