Abstract:	Dieses Sonderheft beschäftigt sich mit Hafenanlagen und den zugehörigen Terminals. Wesentliche maritime Infrastrukturbauwerke sind die Umschlagkajen für die Schiffe. Häfen sind die stark wachsenden Knotenpunkte des Land-Schiff-Verkehrs. Sie spiegeln die zunehmende Globalisierung der Wirtschaft wider und sind für den weltweiten Handel unverzichtbar. Darüber hinaus sind sie ein wichtiger Bestandteil der nationalen Logistikinfrastruktur. Sie sind in der Regel als trimodale Knotenpunkte mit Anbindung an Wasserstraße, Schiene und Straße ausgebildet. Neue Märkte und veränderte Schiffsgrößen, aber auch neue Industrien beflügeln die Hafenentwicklung. So muss die Hafeninfrastruktur sich noch immer wachsenden Schiffsgrößen von derzeit bereits über 16.000 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) anpassen. Auch ganz neue, mit der Energiewende verstärkt vorangetriebene Entwicklungen, allen voran die Offshore-Windparks, erfordern neue Hafenanlagen für Schwerlastumschlag, Baustellenlogistik und Maintenance.
