Abstract:

The infinite slope model is very simple and its essential conclusion is that the maximum inclination of a cohesionless slope is equal to the friction angle of the soil. In combination with generally used failure models for cohesionless soils this assumption leads to an overestimation of slope stability. Alternative estimations for slope stability are presented in this contribution.
