Abstract:	Brandschutzbeschichtungen wurden schon vor über 50 Jahren erfolgreich im Bauwesen eingesetzt, um die Auswirkungen von Bränden wesentlich zu verringern. Die zu erwartende Lebensdauer von Beschichtungen und Bauteilen von Gebäuden im Bestand sind im Allgemeinen nur grobe Schätzungen (Bilder 1 und 2). Im Mittel haben die Tragsysteme selbst eine Lebenserwartung von etwa 60 bis 100 Jahren. Näher eingegangen wird auf die Möglichkeit, Schäden an solchen Beschichtungen möglichst frühzeitig zu erkennen und zu beseitigen, um die Lebensdauer der Beschichtungen und Bauwerke zu verlängern.
