Title:	Urbane Sicherheit bei Explosionen - Schutz durch Bepflanzung
Abstract:	Die Absicherung urbaner Räume vor terroristischen Gefahren erfordert neue Lösungen des baulichen Schutzes, die nicht als solche wahrgenommen werden. Dazu gehören Elemente der Stadtmöblierung und der Landschaftsarchitektur. Dieser Artikel beschreibt numerische und experimentelle Untersuchungen zur Schutzwirkung von Pflanzen bei Explosionsdruckwellen. Es zeigt sich, dass Pflanzen mit bestimmten Eigenschaften den Explosionsdruck um bis zu 60 % abmindern. Diese ersten Untersuchungen werfen jedoch auch einige Fragen auf, die es mithilfe weiterer Forschungsarbeiten zu beantworten gilt. Urban security against explosions - protection through plants The protection of urban areas against terroristic actions requires new solutions of protective systems that are not recognized as protective elements. Among them there are elements of city furniture and landscape architecture. This paper describes theoretical, numerical and experimental research towards protection capabilities of plants against blast. An outcome of the research is that plants of certain characteristics reduce the blast pressure up to 60 %. These first studies pose specific questions that need to be answered in further research work.
