Title:	Vom Betonbau zur Bauingenieurkunst
Abstract:	Zum Gedenken an den 120. Geburtstag von Ulrich Finsterwalder Die Bauingenieure sind sich ihrer gesellschaftlichen Verantwortung bewusst, finden es jedoch unbefriedigend, dass ihr Anteil an der Baukultur weder ausreichend bekannt ist, noch gebührend gewürdigt wird. Der Beitrag gibt einen kurzen Überblick über diese Thematik und versucht die eigenen Defizite der Ingenieure aufzuspüren, die die Lösung des Problems erschweren. Am Beispiel von ULRICH FINSTERWALDER wird gezeigt, welche Haltung einer der großen Baumeister des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts zum verantwortlichen und nachhaltigen Bauen, zur Ästhetik und Gestaltung und zur kreativen Zusammenarbeit mit Architekten eingenommen hatte. Concrete construction and the art of civil engineer - Dedicated to the 120th anniversary oft the birthday of Ulrich Finsterwalder The civil engineers are aware of their social responsibility, but they find it unsatisfactory that their share of the building culture is neither sufficiently known nor duly appreciated. The article gives a brief overview of this topic and tries to detect the engineers' own deficits, which make the solution of the problem more difficult. The example of ULRICH FINSTERWALDER shows what attitude one of the great master builders of the twentieth century had taken towards responsible and sustainable building, aesthetics and design, and creative collaboration with architects.
