Abstract:

Greening Aspang - Measurement Evaluation for a holistic view of microclimatic interactions in a street affected by urban heat island (UHI)
This work shows how different buildings and their immediate surroundings affect the microclimate in the city and influence the indoor climate. As part of a research project, surface temperatures on buildings as well as air temperatures and humidity were measured indoors, in front of facades and in the street canyon. Precipitation, solar radiation and wind speed were also investigated over a long period of time in the test area. From the measurement data, the effects of the different buildings on the indoor and outdoor climate on hot days are derived. The pedestal area and the facades of the buildings were analyzed depending on color, construction, structure and insulation. Parallel to the measurements, residents were interviewed and their satisfaction with the living situation evaluated with regard to climatic conditions. The measurement results of this work provide the basis for the development of measures for redesigning areas affected by the UHI-effect using the example of the pilot area Aspangstraße.
