Abstract: | Herrn Professor Dr.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Dr. h.c. UHPC pressure housings for applications in the deep sea. Experimental and numerical analysis This article describes the development of pressure housings made of ultra-high performance concrete for deep-sea applications within the Helmholtz Alliance ROBEX. In addition to fundamental investigations on the material behavior of UHPC, such as time-dependent and multiaxial compressive strength, elastic modulus, fracture strain, size effect, influence of heat treatment and salt water storage or porosity measurements, studies on design principles have also been carried out to achieve the goal of reclosable pressure vessels for deep sea application in up to 3000 m depth. Based on the experimental data, the non-linear material model multiPlas (ANSYS) was calibrated. In addition to short-term pressure tests, two deep-sea field studies with durations of one year each were carried out at the Arctic Sea to investigate the durability of the concrete housing and the influence of the maritime environment on UHPC. The focus was on the investigation of the creep under high static load, the permeability and the influence of the calcite-compensation-depth (CCD). On the basis of the obtained data, design parameters and design diagrams were developed based on the theory of the thick-walled shell (LAMé). |
