Investigations on the light damage to mineral pigments - Colors in time This presented research deals with the topic of light damage of inorganic pigments in binder matrices focused on cellulosic binder. Considering the phenomenological investigation, the damaging effect of light is quantified by determining the colour change of pigments by means of intensity change (fading/darkening) or even the change of hue like yellowing. The additional application of spectroscopic analysis methods leads to a correlation between colour change and its causal molecular changes. Through the data matrix obtained, statements can be made about the effect of light as a function of the wavelength range and spectral distribution. Further the influence of binders on the light resistance of pigments can be determined. |
