Load carrying capacity of fillet welds with mild carbon and high strength steel. The requirement towards slender and more filigree constructions with high loadings consistently leads to the application of high strength steels. Decisive for the application of high strength steels is, aside of the question of stability and for bridges and similar structures fatigue, mainly the type of joints and connections. In the course of previous research projects, a for high strength steel modified design resistance function could be developed for fillet welds with same base metal by Rasche. The objective of the project was the review of the modified design resistance function for determining the carrying capacity of mixed connections with fillet welds of normal and high strength steels in order to improve the normative carrying capacity of fillet welds for mixed connections in the currently used steel standards. The results will be summarized and will be derived as a proposal for the future code development. |
