Title:

Experimentelle und rechnerische Untersuchung eines neuen Wandtrocknungssystems

Abstract:

Experimental and computational investigation of a new wall drying system.
Thermal drying of walls after water damages is often done with an infrared dryer. To reach the desired drying temperature at the wall surface this type of drying system needs a large amount of electrical energy during the drying period. The Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP in Stuttgart has developed a new, electrically operated, open to diffusion and flexible surface heating system (EDF drying system). Due to its functionality it dries walls energy efficient and even. Experimental and computational investigations have been carried out to determine the actual state of the EDF drying system in continuous operation mode and to compare the drying process and the amount of energy with a commercially available infrared dryer. The simulation model, validated with the results of the performed experiments, allows further optimization studies regarding the operation mode of the new drying system.
