Abstract:	Building Information Modeling (BIM) ist einer der Treiber für die Digitalisierung der Bauwirtschaft. Dennoch bestehen vor allem bei Planungsbüros noch Vorbehalte gegenüber der BIM-Methodik. Zur Untersuchung des Status quo der BIM-Anwendung in Planungsbüros wurde eine deutschlandweite Querschnittsstudie durchgeführt. Die Studienteilnehmer sind zunächst den drei Anwendergruppen “BIM-Anwender”, “BIM-Umsteiger” und “BIM-Nicht-Anwender” zugeordnet worden, um diese anschließend hinsichtlich ihrer Erfahrungen und Erwartungen bezüglich der BIM-Methodik zu befragen. Dabei werden u. a. die Vorteile der BIM-Methodik gegenüber der klassischen Planung und die Hemmnisse der BIM-Implementierung untersucht. Daraus lässt sich Handlungs- und Informationsbedarf für die erfolgreiche Verbreitung der BIM-Methodik herleiten. Die Ergebnisse der Studie zeigen bspw. auf, dass die Verbreitung der BIM-Anwendung vom jeweiligen Leistungsbild der HOAI und der Bürogröße abhängt. Informationsbedarf seitens der BIM-Nicht-Anwender besteht in der Darstellung der Vorteile “Effizientere Kommunikation mit anderen Planern” und “Effizientere Ausführungsplanung”. Außerdem besteht auch Informations- und Handlungsbedarf bei der öffentlichen Hand zur Einführung eines “Effizienteren (digitalen) Baugenehmigungsprozesses”. Beispiele für Hemmnisse sind “Unzureichende BIM-Kompetenzen”, die “Fehlende BIM-Anwendung bei Projektbeteiligten” sowie der “Kosten- und Zeitaufwand zur BIM-Implementierung”. Quantitative cross-sectional study of the BIM-application in planning offices - benefits and barriers of the BIM-implementation Building Information Modeling (BIM) is one of the drivers of the construction industries digitalization. However, planning offices still express reservations about the BIM-method. To determine the status quo of the BIM-application in planning offices, a cross-sectional study was accomplished. First, the study participants were dedicated to the three groups of “BIM-users”, “BIM-changers” and “BIM-not-users”. Afterwards they were questioned about their experiences and expectations regarding the BIM-method. Among others, the benefits of the BIM-method and the barriers of the BIM-implementation are examined. The need for action and the information demand for a successful BIM-application can be deduced. The results of the study show exemplifying that the BIM-application depends essentially on the type of planning services (HOAI) and the size of the planning office. An information demand on behalf of the BIM-not-users is the demonstration of a more efficient communication among planning parties and the increasing efficiency during the execution drawings process. Furthermore, there is an urgent need for action and information demand in the public sector for the implementation of a more efficient (digitalized) building permit process. Examples for barriers of the BIM-implementation are the missing BIM-expertise among the employees and the expenditure of cost and time necessary to implement the BIM-method.
