Abstract:	In den kommenden Dekaden erfordern die deutschen Brückenbauwerke eine erhöhte Aufmerksamkeit, da für einen großen Anteil des Bestands die vorgesehene Lebensdauer erreicht ist. Einige dieser Bauwerke haben neben ihrer Bedeutung für die Infrastruktur einen hohen baukulturellen Wert und fordern daher große Sorgfalt seitens der Bauwerkserhaltung. Für die anstehenden Aufgaben im Bereich bestehender Brückenbauwerke wurde anhand eines Beispiels die Anwendung der Planungsmethodik BIM auf ihre derzeitigen Möglichkeiten untersucht. Im Vordergrund der Untersuchung stehen die Erfassung der Geometrie einer bestehenden Brücke mit einem 3-D-Laserscan, die Verarbeitung der resultierenden Punktwolke zu einem virtuellen Bauwerksmodell (BIM-Modell) und schließlich die Ableitung eines statischen Modells aus dem BIM-Modell. 3-D laserscan to BIM model - a field report from steel bridge construction With a growing number of bridges reaching their anticipated lifespan, increased maintenance will be required during the next decades. Due to the high infrastructural and cultural importance that some of these structures hold, specific attention needs to be given to their maintenance. To assess the challenges that existing bridges bear, the BIM method and its possibilities was investigated against an example of a historic steel bridge. Special focus was given to capturing the geometry of the bridge with a 3-D laserscan, converting the point cloud into a virtual BIM model and conveying it into a structural calculation model.
