Abstract:	Im Zuge der Bauhausbewegung und des Advents der Moderne entwickelt sich mit den neuen industriellen und technischen Möglichkeiten eine eigene Ästhetik. Der Stahl bleibt mit seiner Tragstruktur unsichtbar, doch wird er zum versteckten Helfer moderner Raumideen und einer Industrialisierung des Bauens. Die Weissenhofsiedlung in Stuttgart zeigt dies exemplarisch. Weiters wird mit Entwurf und Tragwerksplanung des Wüstenrot-Hochhauses in Ludwigsburg (1953) von Richard Döcker und Walter Wrycza ein Stahlskeletthochhaus in ebendieser Tradition vorgestellt.
