Abstract:	Der vorliegende Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über die bisherigen Aktivitäten der Professur “Nachhaltigkeit im Metallleichtbau”, welche zum 1. Juli 2015 an der RWTH Aachen University eingerichtet wurde und vom Internationalen Verband für den Metallleichtbau (IFBS) unterstützt und gefördert wird. Die Professur, bekleidet von Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Kuhnhenne, beschäftigt sich in Forschung und Lehre mit Aspekten des statisch-konstruktiven Entwurfs, der Bauphysik und insbesondere der Nachhaltigkeit von Gebäudehüllen mit Metallleichtbauelementen. Es werden die aktuellen Entwicklungen zu energetischen Anforderungen im Gebäudebereich beschrieben, um im Anschluss die laufenden Forschungsprojekte und -netzwerke der Professur im Einzelnen vorzustellen. Research and innovation in lightweight metal construction at RWTH Aachen University This article provides an overview of the activities of the professorship “Sustainable Metal Building Envelopes”, which has been established on 1 July 2015 at RWTH Aachen University and is supported and promoted by the International Association for Metal Building Envelopes (IFBS). The professorship, held by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Kuhnhenne, deals with aspects of structural design, building physics and in particular the sustainability of building envelopes with lightweight metal construction elements. The current developments regarding energetic requirements in the building area are described, in order to present afterwards the current research projects and networks of the professorship in detail.
