Title: | Die Orthoverbund-Fahrbahnplatte - Stand der Entwicklung |
Abstract: | Herrn Prof. Dipl.-Ing. The ortho-composite slab The self-weight of the roadway slab is a very important issue for the design of wide-span bridges. Orthotropic decks are light, but very vulnerable to fatigue. Hence, orthotropic decks are planned very rarely nowadays. Reinforced concrete slabs on composite bridges are robust, but to heavy for large spans. The ortho-composite slab combines the advantages of orthotropic decks and concrete decks in a most favorable way. The general principle of lightweight composite slabs exists from the 1930s and has been successfully used on several wide-span bridges. The ortho-composite slab consist of an orthotropic deck with reduced dimensions and a layer of reinforced concrete. The type of shear connectors play a very important roll on this construction type. They have to be installed on a large area in an economic way and at the same time, they have to be resistant to fatigue. At currently ongoing projects, headed studs are used as shear connectors. Considerations and first test results show that composite dowels are more appropriate for the particular use case. |
