Title: | Untersuchungen zur Anwendbarkeit optischer Verformungsmessverfahren bei Plastic Concrete |
Investigations into the applicability of optical deformation measurement techniques on plastic concrete In specialist foundation engineering, cut-off walls to counter dam and underground seepage may be constructed with plastic concrete. The ductile and low strength material properties, as well as the high water content of plastic concrete mixtures, hamper the experimental investigations into the deformation behaviour significantly. Therefore, in the present study a range of possibilities for the unerring measurement of deformation of plastic concrete were tested and compared. The findings show that the optical deformation measurement system used, which is based on digital image correlation technology, can successfully determine the deformation properties of plastic concrete. Furthermore, the research showed that the comprehensive measurement of local deformation on the specimen surface makes an extensive analysis of the material deformation behaviour possible, far exceeding the capabilities of conventional strain measurement techniques. In addition, new insights into the mechanical behaviour of plastic concrete at failure were gained. The comparison of the optical deformation measurement with the affixed strain gauges shows that the results correlate closely, however this study provides solid evidence that the optical deformation measurement should be favoured due to the comprehensive measurement of local deformation. |
