Title: | Wehr Horkheim am Neckar: Grundinstandsetzung |
Horkheim weir on the Neckar River - general refurbishment Horkheim weir is located on the Neckar River and represents - in combination with the lock, the power station and a flood control gate - the next upstream barrage towards Heilbronn. The weir itself is located at the upstream end in the Horkheim Altneckar river section. The weir was built from 1927 to 1929. In 2008, the WSV (Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsverwaltung des Bundes [Federal Waterways and Shipping Authorities]) decided on a general refurbishment of the weir due to the structures age-related condition and transferred the planning authority for this project to the Amt für Neckarausbau Heidelberg (ANH [office for Neckar development, Heidelberg]). For this purpose, the ANH commissioned the planning consortium consisting of the two engineering firms IRS Stahlwasserbau Consulting AG (Würzburg) and Weber-Ingenieure GmbH (Heilbronn) to plan the general refurbishment activities. Planning was primarily based on DIN 19704 (Hydraulic steel structures), DIN 18800 Part 1-3 (Steel structures, applicable standard at that time), and EN 1993-1-1 for the fatigue analysis of the fishbelly flap. |
