Erneuerung des Stahlwasserbaus am Sylvensteinspeicher

Abstract:

Hydraulic steel construction renewal of the Sylvenstein reservoir
The Sylvenstein reservoir - Bavaria's oldest state-run reservoir - was erected between 1954 and 1959 and is located about 60 km south of Munich. The dam, a 48.5 m high earth dam, protects the lower reaches of the river from flooding, ensures adequate minimum water flow and delivers green hydropower. In order to maintain the operational safety of the Sylvenstein reservoir, extensive retrofitting and upgrading measures were started as early as 1994. These include the construction of an additional spillway, a dam heightening of 3 m, the installation of an additional sealing wall in the dam and underground, and a new leakage water measuring system adapted to the state of the art. The renewal of the entire hydraulic steel construction is currently in its final phase. The special challenge, especially for the hydraulic steel construction, was to perform the work under very limited space conditions as well as to meet the mandatory requirement of continued operation of the dam.
