Abstract:

Mobile Großgeräte (u. a.

Basic investigation of the seismic behavior of large material handling equipment using the example of a rail-bound stacker-reclaimer - Part 1: State of the art and analysis approaches
Large mobile equipment (i. e. container cranes, stacker-reclaimer, ship loader, stacker) is of great importance to the global economy. Due to ever scarcer raw materials it is increasingly being used in seismically active areas where reserves are still dormant. The seismic behavior of these non-anchored structures differs fundamentally from conventional structures due to the possibility of lift-off, and an accurate and economical seismic design according to current earthquake standards worldwide is hardly possible. The general design code requirements, the state of research as well as already known failure mechanisms of large mobile equipment under seismic excitation are discussed in this paper. Modelling and calculation approaches for fundamental investigation concerning the seismic behavior of large rail-bound mobile material handling equipment using the example of typical stacker-reclaimers are derived.
