Temporary post-anchoring of bar tendons by bond - Development of an anchoring system for transversely pre-stressed deck-slabs For the partial deconstruction of concrete or composite bridges, the transversely pre-stressed deck-slab is often cut through in the longitudinal direction. While one half is replaced by a new structure, traffic shall be maintained on the other half. For structural reasons, the transverse pre-stressing in the deck-slab is to be maintained for a limited period of time. The paper presents an anchoring system in which the plain bar tendons are anchored via bond in a new concrete block that partially replaces the existing concrete. The system was developed for the replacement of a composite highway bridge in Germany. The results base on a multi-stage experimental program and theoretical considerations on bond anchorage. In addition to the static anchorage, cyclic loading, bond creep and cracking were considered. The experiments show that complete anchorage of the bar tendons (St80/105, 26 mm) can be realized over a length of 1.45 m with the grouted concrete used. Without considering safety factors, the essential load transfer is achieved over a few decimeters. In addition, the paper deals with the practical implementation, surveillance, and structural boundary conditions to be considered. |
