Carbon rebars in construction - Part 5: Factors influencing bond behavior After the basics were described in the previous publications of this series and the first preliminary tests on the bond behavior of carbon rebars were published, this article describes the key factors influencing the bond behavior of concrete components reinforced with carbon rebars. For a selected rebar - a carbon rebar with a milled surface profile - the influence of concrete strength, bond length and grain size on the bond behavior are investigated experimentally. The results show im Allgemeinen, that with the selected bar, the maximum bond stress increases with higher concrete strengths. Furthermore, a limit bond stress could be demonstrated from which higher bond strength can no longer be expected with increasing concrete strength. In this case, this only occurred when using an ultra-high strength concrete. Analytical models to take into account the various influences conclude the article. |
